Yes.

I would love to hear from someone who tried it, though.
In the comments of this page, several users says they have successfully flashed the Pocketbook firmware, but they can't go back on TEA firmware, the only solution is to send them the reader back.

Also, note that TEA have released a new version of the Inkpad 3 740 under the name Vivlio this time, and they have a newer firmware (but still older than the Pocketbook one):

Cultura, a french shop, is selling the two references at the same price:

I have a Tea Inkpad 3, any downside or problem if I flash the Pocketbook firmware ?
I'm aware I will lose the included shop, but I don't use it, actually I only enable Wifi to check firmware update (mine if from may 2018 !)
The OP in this thread
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=314657
reported successfully putting the previous version of the Pocketbook firmware on a Tea-branded Inkpad 3 which was likely running that same May 2018 firmware. I will probably convert mine as well to the latest version when I have time to fiddle with it. Lately I have been more focused on trying to get through my backlog of unread books, than fiddling with my device....

Hi,
I recently purchased a Vivlio Inkpad 3 from CDiscount online merchant (groupe casino)

SKU = PB740-E-VVO (Europe, I suppose, S/N begins with YTE905)
MFG date = 14/05/2019
FW is V740.5.19.992 20190410_152958

Custom programs seem not to be running in applications (icons are present but selecting them merely returns to main page), I suppose I'm going to flash the latest firmware.

wanted to try UART serial, but didn't find how to pry the case open /swt

I just updated the Inkpad 3 firmware manually from TEA/Vivlio firmware (T740.5.17.1680) to pocketbook last firmware (U740.5.20.1010) with no problems.

I read that TEA/Vivlio have removed some applications on their last firmware like Chess, dropbox and so on, but if you do use pocketbook original firmware you have everything complete.

After firmware update, nothing was changed in my configuration (French language, my custom dictionaries and so on...etc. ) and i can now benefit from the improvement of the software.

If you don't use TEA/Vivlio bookstore, i advice you to update firmware to the last pocketbook one, as TEA/Vivlio firmware support is slow as hell.

I've also abandoned any hope of getting an official update for my Tea-branded Inkpad 3, and put the latest PB firmware on it instead. I used the manual update procedure and it did preserve all my settings (additional fonts, etc) and seems to be working fine. But I don't do anything other than side-load books and read them.....

I've applied the PocketBook firmware on a Vivlio BP740 too, without problem.

The PocketBook firmware keep all your dictionaries, all your settings and your collections.
And now I have the PocketBook Upgrades and some improvements...
