I'm pretty sure the Alf plug-in was able to obtain a key from the Windows 10 app. I purchased a Surface that has never had Nook Study installed. I installed the app, Calibre and the Alf plug-ins and have not had DRM issues. Others said the same worked for them. Still others say it does not. It's a crap-shoot. Quote:

I have a nook simple touch, and recently bought a book that could not be downloaded to it. B&N reluctantly refunded my money, whereas I've never had issues with Amazon and Kobo refunds. I buy a lot of books, and some of them are on sale at Amazon but not Kobo, and Kobo will price match and refund to 90% of the other retail's price (including tax). Be aware that Kobo sometimes asks for a screen print of the on-sale page, so always take a screen print when price-matching.
I've issues with B&N Nook for Windows app downloading encrypted PDF files, especially with cookbooks. I don't think the DRM can be removed from them, so I only buy fiction from B&N these days. I've also had problems lately with downloading books from Kobo to Linux with Adobe Digital Editions 1.7 running on Wine. When this happens, I can download them on other computers, but I think sometimes I have to use the latest ADE 4.5. Some people say that this could mean you could get an DRM epub that can't have the DRM removed, but I've never seen that. |

I have Windows 10 on my surface pro 5. I have downloaded the nook app from Microsoft’s store and my nook books show up.....but none of the books will open. I have tried several times uninstalling and reinstalling the app....still no go. Any ideas on what is going wrong here?
