I'm going to have one of those cases soon. I just ordered some dust jackets and two of the polycarbonate cases (in case I screw up one I'll have a spare ) while their 20% discount is on.

Be warned, it's very easy to go to slide the locking catch across when fiddling with it immediately after unpacking it!

So anyone can confirm if a normal DVD box works?

Calibre is too obvious

I couldn't survive without it (in an ebook sense)

That's because it isn't add-on software... it IS the ebook librarian software (for me; YMMV). I'm a Mac user, so Sony's software is a complete non-starter; Calibre is the only available solution for me. As a result, I don't think of it as an add-on, but rather as an integral part of the whole picture.

Thanks for the warning; I'll be very, very careful! I'm going to go back and study the directions so I don't screw it up.

Hello!

I just rechecked, and yes the gameboy SP's solar panel's voltage is 5,2V.
However I don't know of it's power out.
I suppose you could plug your solarpanel into the reader, but here comes my question:
To anyone with an AC adapter, can you charge while reading?
If so the solar panel of the gameboy might be really a cool gadged for when you go camping or in a mountain cab!
The solar panel uses a plug that is one format smaller than the reader, so you'll need a cable that has the reader's ac plug on one end, and a similar but slightly smaller plug on the other end,and just connect the two.

If reading on an AC is possible, reading on the solar panel should be too.
However I don't know if the solar panel is strong enough to charge the internal battery of the reader.

Perhaps it is under full sun light.

I just made a small case from a DVD box for the reader.
All it took was leveling (cutting) some plastic inside the reader's box, and glue a piece of a towel on the inside.
I have to admit I have quite a nice looking case, however I don't think the case offers more protection than the leather pouch delivered with the reader.
For small falls and bumps, yes;but it is not protecting the screen better than the pouch.
Anything pressing too hard on the center of the box will break the screen.
I'll post pictures in the "Make Your Own Polycarbonate Case" thread at https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11420

Really,you're not missing anything..
I'm using them both on my WinXP laptop and find it pitty I actually installed the Sony soft.
The only thing it offers hat calibre does not is the sony e-store, and thus also registering your product, but I think you could register your product via the web as well,I'm not sure.

.
Yes. If it's charging you'll see the LED charging light illuminate and a small lightning bolt next to the battery icon at the bottom of the screen.

Cheers,
Bob

Great, that would mean you can use a Gameboy Advance (SP)'s solar charger panel to power the reader.
However, no guarantee charging will be possible!

As an update, I had ordered the psp adaptor for the solio. It finally came in today and it works like a champ on the 505.

I'm all for solar power. All of my rechargeables are recharged via solar (except my laptop). MP3 player, cell phone, bluetooth GPS units (2x), my PRS-505, my Axim, all of my D, C, AA, and AAA batteries...

Spent $70 for my solar setup -- second best "gadget" investment I've made since the Reader.

Oh, and I use the AA's in "tap lights" (one that gets a *LOT* of use -- to the point of recharging the batteries every other day), digital cameras (3x), a handful of tools.

Working on a system to solar/wind power the lighting in my home currently.
