Torpedoed. That's it! The flare, once ignited, begins to expand and transform itself into a submarine. The additional mass, created from the ether, causes the Goose to crashland (crashwater?) into the sea and as the entire vessel morphs into a Yellow Submarine, it begins to glide, in a rather wavy, psychedic manner, through the Smoke on the Water while cute bra-less chicks with flowers in their hair groove with the long-haired guys in flared jeans to the sounds of.....

Okay. Never mind.

One of my earlier time-displacement devices was actually powered by a V12 Flare-Goose. Each cylinder of Tardis-space contained a mid-air 1937 Grumman Goose, each containing a flair set to trigger in a particular sequence. The resultant firework actually retrochroned its entire Tardis-space 15ms into the past, to the point just before the triggering, and the sequence of all twelve cylinders created a perpetual splodey engine which could displace itself and a bubble of the immediate vicinity 15ms into the past to when the first cylinder was triggered. Since this was operating at several million RPM, the milliseconds quickly added-down to unlimited rear-way time-travel.

Unfortunately, the exhaust system spewed exponentially-increasing viral anti-matter, and within 15ms it went all kinda Big Bang-ish and the neighbours in the universe next door called the cops again.

I don't know how a 1938 Grumman Goose would go though. I moved on to using mutant gerbils in 17-dimensional hamster-playballs, which only messed up my burnt orange shag carpet a little (it was actually just plain "orange" when I started).

Still, it couldn't hurt to try, pshrynk. What's the worse that could happen?

I suspect that any explosion would be muffled by the large case of UncleDuke's doughnuts that was taken aboard as iron rations. (UncleDuke hates to see anyone going hungry.) Fortuitously, each of these doughnuts is just the right size to be life-preservers for Hugo and Lefty.

Oh, this last bit would indeed be an interesting addition! And, as to the date/time of the aircraft -- I thought we had decided time was immaterial, and could be re-arranged at will? Or at least at Vivaldi?
