Also, since I read mostly mass-market paperbacks I think the 6inch screen size is pretty close to the MMP. Does your wife read mostly TPB or HCs perhaps?

Kidding aside, I thought I should share my experience with all three units, because I don't think I am the only one who finds 6" a little small to replicate the book-reading experience (I do like reading hardcovers much better than paperbacks, though:-) I read almost exclusively at home, except when I am on vacation or a trip - but then I can put it in the luggage, anyway.

And my point was, that the iLiad seems to be the only device on the market, with what could be termed a "medium" screen - 8". It is still smaller than a hardcover, but to me the 10" is a little too big (to others it may be perfect, of course).

I was afraid of the battery-life, but I had it on for maybe close to 7 hours or so last night, while updating it, loading and deleting stuff from it, etc., and it seemed to have discharged just less than half. -- Not good, compared to the Sonys, but not necessitating recharge every night, either. I am really, really hoping that the OpenIliad project succeeds in moving this up to kernel 2.6 and implements sleep and better power management.
