Talking

Mine is on the Delivery Truck, I'm waiting by the phone, I put a sticky on the intercom to tell the courier my buzzer number. Now I'm just hangin hear to see what's new.

Sony was true to their word. It was received in T.O., processed 1.5 days in shipping then shipped to Vancouver last night.

Hang on a sec, my intercom is buzzing....

Just got a brown box with Sony on it, will have to come visit later

Plugged it into charger, now have a 2 hour wait..don't even know what the screen looks like yet.

See my post here.

I have to say, the touch screen *is* very nice. The UI is a lot more intuitive on the 700. The UI does still have room for improvement, but I'm sure it will come with future firmware updates. Just minor stuff, like you tap on "Preferences", then you see a entry marked "Screen", and you think, "Oh, I wonder what preferences I can set for the screen?", so you tap it, and you get a dialog box that says "Press 'Yes' to calibrate the screen. yes/no". Seems like a strange yes/no dialog, especially since it isn't asking a question.

If not for the slight fuzziness to the screen, then I'd say the 700 was the clear winner, because the slightly reduced contrast is not as bad as some people have made it out to be.

Thanks for the well written review Jason... I can't wait for the Sony Store here in T.O to call me on Monday and tell me to pick up my PRS 700....

Sony PRS-700 vs 505

Hi folks,
I actually just got my hands on the PRS 700 from Sony after having my 505 for nearly a year. I'm writing a tech review for the Georgia Straight--a Vancouver urban weekly--about the difference between the two and trying to find the answer of when/if the Amazon Kindle will actually be available in Canada.
Any thoughts from anyone who's had the 700? I have to say, I wouldn't trade in my 505 for the 700. But I'll love to hear from anyone in Vancouver or Canada out there who has the 700.

I'm at gidgadgets@gmail.com

Happy reading folks.
