Thing is, the software on the Linux device is programmed to del with color to 16 shades of gray.

Android apps think in terms of color. So they don't display color pictures nearly as well. Also, a lot of Android reading apps don't know enough about CSS such a Neoreader, FBReader, Moon+, etc. So it's not easy to find an app that understand CSS and has a god enough set of features and good eBook management. Take a look at Kobo and Onyx with stock firmware and no add-on/patches. Kobo has better reading software and eBook management So for someone who doesn't patch and/or install add-ons/other software, An android Reader is not a good idea.

I forget which Android Reader uses FBReader as the reading app (What a disaster).

Both Calibre Companion and AlReader can be set to EInk - and this combination is much more comfortable for me than all Linux crutches that cannot offer what I want.

I got quite a bit of this stuff (especially Kobo) flying around somewhere - I learned from expensive experience.

What I would like to say: I remove almost all formatting in Calibre, because I am only interested in the text left-justified, with paragraph spacing, without indentation.

I use paper to enjoy "beautiful" books

Do you remove the things that run on Android at start that you don't need that takes up battery?

Not removed, but disabled, in the case of the devices that I use as reading devices, e.g. Gapps, which use a lot of power.
