Yes, that's right. When I upload "The Body in the Library" to my Kindle, the title automatically gets changed to "Miss Marple 01 - The Body in the Library", and that's how it displays on my Kindle".

The Kobos’ ‘shelves’ can be synced very easily, and without requiring any jailbreak or hack, to Calibre tags (or to any other column set in Calibre). Unfortunately, Kobos don’t support nested shelves. I am, in fact, not aware of any eink ereader that does. Maybe an Android eink ereader? Not sure. But those tend to have a much shorter battery life.

However, do you need to manage and browse your collection from the ereader, or would you be happy using the ereader only for reading, and your PC or smartphone for browsing your library, deciding what to read, etc?

I ask because this could exactly be a compromise. You’re already using Calibre to manage your collection, right? So, when you are at your PC, you can use Calibre to browse your library, choose what to read, etc. When you are away from your PC, you could use Calibre Companion to do so. Calibre Companion supports two-level hierarchies: http://cc_faq.multipie.co.uk/index.p...=86&artlang=en

The workflow could be something like this:
You use Calibre to tag your books; note that Calibre can tag DRM-protected books
If you read mostly at home, you can connect Calibre Companion to the PC running Calibre; if you’re often away from home, you can: set up a one-way sync to copy the Calibre database file to a Dropbox (or equivalent) folder, and get Calibre Companion to access it. There are many threads on why you want to avoid Calibre and Dropbox accessing the library at the same time, hence the one-way copy.
Use Calibre or Calibre Companion to browse etc
Once you have decided what you want to read, simply find the title on your ereader

After all, this is the digital equivalent of looking at your bookshelves and choosing a couple of books to put in your bag!

PS If you go through the threads on jailbreaking, you'll notice that a lot depends on the firmware. The latest firmware cannot, as of now, be jailbroken (jailbreaked?)
