Chip-in to add PRS 700 support to calibre - Page 2

Dont get me started on linux dependency hell. The problem is that calibre uses cutting edge versions of various dependencies, it takes typical distributions 6-12 months to catch up.

And I'd rather not introduce platform specific behavior into calibre.

We've acheived $400, I've put an order for the PRS700 with sonystyle, hopefully it will be shipped soon. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Wow Kovid, that was fast.

Since BH Photo won't be getting it for a little while longer, I would really appreciate your view on whether the screen is any fuzzier than the 505 because of the intervening plastic introduced by the touchscreen and sidelight.

I've seen the 505 in London and the Iliad in Sydney (this week). The clarity of the screen on the Iliad is what I would call perfect so any comparison with that would help me a lot.

@pb: My wife is looking forward to inhertinig my 505, I suspect she prefers that to a weekend getaway

I picked up my 700 yesterday afternoon at the Borders in the Providence Place mall (played with it just about all day after that!) and now I am looking forward to Calibre supporting the 700. I had to check this thread to find out if my small donation actually helped to get that 700... I guess it did!

I got my 700 today and tried calibre 0.4.104 with it. Calibre recognized it, and synced my library.

No troubles to report.
