You could try to do a factory reset. That will at least get you back to square one before you tried to update it. Info on the original Kobo is sparse, but I found two things on the net: 1) "insert a paperclip into the reset hole until it clicks to reset the device. Then when you see square icons appear on the screen, use the paperclip to press the reset button—do this three times. If done properly the screen will turn black and show a Critical error message (that’s normal), at which point you can select to reset your Kobo ereader." 2) "If you still need to do a factory reset: make sure the Kobo is off (recommended that you hold the power button on for 5-10 seconds to make sure it is powered off), push and hold the home button while you turn the Kobo on. That should cause it to factory reset. Normal cautions that this will delete whatever is on your reader etc. and you'll have to reload all your content." Otherwise, you will probably have to open it up, attach to the serial port and see if the bootloader is still intact. If so, you can use u-boot to flash the firmware manually. NickE |
