I get that people know that the Aura Ed. 2 has Overdrive built in, but they won't know that they can also download and read them on their older readers, if the keep them, once the newer reader has sync'd and added the Overdrive book to their Kobo library. I_m_sherlocked is right, you still need to have a reader with Overdrive support if you want to be able to download Overdrive books directly to your reader(s), you just don't have to read exclusively on the new reader. What I meant was that I don't expect Kobo owners to buy an Aura Ed. 2 so they can read Overdrive books on the Kobo readers they already have. If they're buying a reader specifically for the Overdrive support, they'll buy whichever reader has the screen they want to use for reading.

I have a Glo HD, and I opted to spend the extra $20 for the Clara HD's better screen. And, if my wife ever gets over her irrational dislike of ebook readers, both of us will be able to check out books from the library and read them on whichever reader we're using.

No, it works as I stated. Once the OD/library account is connected to the Kobo account, books borrowed from the library are added to your Kobo library and sync to all your devices or apps.

Okay. I'm sorry I missed your point. Unfortunately I do that too often.

After I read i_m_sherlocked's message, I tried checking out a book from the Overdrive website about 8 hours ago. It did not show up in my Kobo library immediately, or when I refreshed My Books at Kobo, or after I sync'd my Kobo Glo HD. It only showed up after I sync'd my Clara HD.

I'll have to take back my statement. After seeing your post, I tested again. I borrowed through the OD site and the books didn't download. But, I'm sure they did when I last tried. I'm sure this was one of the things I tried when OD integration came to the Clara HD. I'll have to do some investigating in case there is something else needed.

Maybe Kobo removed the permanent link, making a requirement for OD supporting devices to sync regularly, to prevent people borrowing someone else's OD supporting device to link their own accounts to use with their old non-OD supporting devices, and now this sentence is way too long.
