It took two days to get that answer. The first reply told me to reset the iPhone app which pretty much shows how much they read things the first time.

I use ADE 2.0.1 on Win10 to download ebooks bought from Kobo, without problems up till recently. As of this morning, I can download a copy of books I bought on 21 Aug 2018 with this ADE; but I cannot download any of 4 books I bought on 25 Aug 2018. Like others, I get an error message about failed communication with an Adobe server.

Unless and until this resolves for me, or I hear better news from others, I am assuming that Kobo are introducing newer encryption that ADE v2 cannot handle. And I shall not be be buying any more books from Kobo until matters have improved.

I have the same problem this morning:
E_LIC_LICENSE_SIGN_ERROR

With last ADE 4.5.8.

Maybe the problem is to pay for reading .

Thanks for the update. Also, thanks to anyone who contacted Kobo about this problem. I haven't been buying from them because I've had lots of problems, but I was tempted by a come back discount, then encountered this. I decided it wasn't worth going head to head with them again, so was going to write it off.

I echo the thanks to all. I've been able today to download the four Kobo books I bought on 25 Aug 2018, using ADE 2.0.1 as desired. I hope this will continue to be possible.

This episode has reminded me how fragile some of my methods/habits are, and how vulnerable to whims/changes by corporations.
