Since I have the Kobo account, when I clicked eBooks on the Walmart site, I was redirected to the standard Kobo eBook store (I think there was a referral URL, but nothing else different than just going to Kobo). But when my brother followed the link, he got a Walmart branded Kobo store -- so I booted up my laptop and, sure enough, the Walmart eBook store came up. Since I didn't have an account with Walmart eBooks, I used my Walmart login and now have a second Kobo account. At this point I don't mind that, but I wonder if there is a way to link the two accounts? Or will they always be treated as two separate accounts?

So then I logged out of my Kobo Touch (under accounts) to see if I could login to the new Walmart account. When the Touch rebooted it came up with the Walmart eBook logo and login as the default -- so, I guess, in the U.S. Walmart is now the "go-to" Kobo bookstore? (They also gave you the option to choose the Kobo bookstore, but that was secondary, below the FaceBook login.) Kind of weird to see that. Has anyone else experienced this?
log into your kobo account. go to your account settings where you can reset password but scroll down to the very bottom there should be a link to click to link your walmart ebook account. it will prompt you to enter your walmart ebook userid and password, I had an issue where that and the ios app would not reconize my account so I had to reregister while going threw the linking process

I have a Walmart account AND a kobo account. I haven't tried linking them yet. I'm waiting to see what other braver souls than mine experience when doing it. Haha

I've linked my Kobo account to the Dutch affiliate, Bol.com. It works fantastically. All books I bought from either place show up in my library - as in, two libraries are merged and they are now identical. I can buy from either place and the new book is present in both places (that is actually one place that shows up in both).

I had this a few weeks ago, which was extremely annoying as I use several different Kobo accounts. It wasn't my browser or cache or cookies though. It solved itself after a few days, which made me think it was some error on Kobo's side.

Thanks for the feedback!

It seems in the states that kobo books is now “✲ebooks by Rakuten Kobo”, at least for the desktop version. Mobile branding is lagging behind. The prices from the kobostore on my KA1 and the website are exact. Do you ever see price differences between your kobostore and bol.com?

Sent from my iPhone, proving definitively that I’m all thumbs.

No, I've never seen any price difference between Bol.col and the Dutch Kobo.com. And I always check: prices are identical to the cent.

Anyone able to get the $10 off first ebook after signing up for the Walmart ebook site? I've got a book in my cart but afraid to check out as I'm not seeing a discount. Also curious how you would download an ebook from the Walmart site.

No. I got an email that said I was supposed to get this discount, that it would be credited when I put a book worth more than $10.01 (or above) in my cart, but nothing ever showed up. I was wondering if it was because the eBook link at Walmart originally went to my regular Kobo account.

Did you try on the web or a smartphone? It showed up on my wife's shopping cart when she used her smartphone, but not on my web browser. May be something wrong with the web site or perhaps it didn't like my browser. It wasn't worth the trouble in the end and I just deleted the account I created. I think Walmart is about 5-6 years too late to the game. Amazon Kindle pretty much owns ebooks at this point.

Not sure what the deal is, but I dug out my wife's old tablet (one she got from Sprint) because that's the only Android tablet we have in the house (all the others are Fire tablets). I don't think it's been turned on for three months, but it still had 42% of its battery left. I installed the Walmart eBook app on it, but still no luck. I think it's because I used an existing Walmart account instead of creating a new one when I signed up for the eBooks -- except they sent me an email telling me I had the $10 credit (now that I think about it). I don't know what's going on. Just doesn't work. Oh well, I'll get over it. I'll probably cancel the Walmart Kobo account anyhow. (I have no need for two Kobo accounts.)

You would think they might have better tested the site to make sure it actually worked before launch. Not a very good start.

Well, I also tested the Walmart Kobo eBooks site by "buying" a free book — maybe my $10 discount was applied to that as it was my "first purchase."

I just tested this last night with my Walmart account (which isn't linked to my Kobo account yet). The $10 didn't show up until after I added a book to the shopping cart and proceeded to checkout.

Maybe only on certain books? Tried again tonight. No luck. But my first book "purchase" and $10 discount may have been applied to my free book.

For your sake, I hope that wasn't the case. Sometimes the ten buck credit never appears. I sent a friend that referral link kobo has been doing forever. She got her five buck discount, but I never received my credit.

I purchased The Big Sleep. It was over $10. US store. Try that one and see if your credit shows up on the way to checkout.
