I could get them smaller but i cannot get hold of the plastic thing thet attaches to the reader. So the only way i can think of designing them is so that either the light wedge cover or the standard tan cover slips into the custom cover. I would love to get hold of the plastic thingies we could do our own from scratch.

Some ideas/thoughts/wishlist...

What I would love for my 505 would be a cover/boxlike thing to keep the reader in in my purse... so what I'm dreaming of is
-good quality/beautiful leather finish
-a rigid front to protect the screen (essential!)
-cover for upper and lower edges to keep dust/lint/whatever from getting into the usb-connector and card readers
-the cover would be a separate 'loose' cover, that I can modify with a separate insert so I can keep just the 505 in it snugly or the 505 with factory cover (or a replacement skin in the same series, see below)

And for an entirely other use, a cover to replace the factory cover, more skin-like, but with clear plastic over the front to keep crumbs off the buttons/screen when I read while eating (and maybe give some peace of mind for an occasional spill, but not waterproof naturally). Matching the 'travel cover' I wish for above. With a safe attachment point for a lanyard. And maybe so that the clear plastic can be opened and turned back to read in areas where the reflection would annoy me, although that will compromise protection, and the reader would still have to be very safely attached to the cover.

Those are my dream ideal covers, living with kids and reading everywhere and the reader is with me in my purse all the time. So versatile and safe would be nice....

Question

Kevin

Did you ever get this off the ground? As there is not much available in UK?

Maybe you could buy a busted non working reader off of eBay for cheap and send that instead. He shouldn't need it to actually work. I bet you could pick one up for less then $5.

why not send him a card board cut out, a piece of wood with similar dimensions, or some hard material that resembles the feel (definately not he look but you should draw in the buttons, screen, dials, do-hickeys, thing-a-ma-jigs, and most important--do-dads.)

don't forget the DO-DADS

The manufacturer would need something the exact dimensions of the actual unit. With a folding leather case, a few millimeters one way or the other can make a huge difference in the fit. I second the idea of finding a dead unit to send him.

ahhh how about people TAKE the plastic thingy FROM the covers they already have. Its only takes about 30 seconds to rip it out of the stock cover.

SIZE is critical to me what I love about my 500 is how small it is leather cover and all (the premium leather cover the stock one sucks)

One thing I may do is get an oberon cover and "put" my plastic thingy IN the cover so I can eliminate those pesky unsightly corner straps and make it sit FLAT like the stock premium cover does.

I think one or two small SD slots and maybe something for a passport. Perfect for traveling. Oh, and a boarding pass slot.

How about something more rugged-looking? I have a wallet from these guys and it is great. Really tough leather.
