I'm pretty sure I already posted the whole story on MobileRead some time back, but it was Larry Niven.

I met him in a bookstore (without knowing who he was) after I had just read my first book by Larry Niven (Ringworld) and basically went berserk telling "this guy" about what a GREAT author this guy Niven was, and about how I planned to read every book I could find of his and if "this guy" had any sense at all, and liked sci-fi, he'd buy the books too.

And then I got to the counter and the clerk asked me if I was going to have my books autographed by the author, and when I said "huh??" the clerk said "well, I saw you back there talking to him, so I thought maybe you'd want to get your books autographed."

One of my "major moron" moments.

Ahhh, I remember that story.

I thought you'd seen some famous author very recently... even sometime yesterday... maybe in the restaurant.

Nah, nothing that dramatic. Just rehashing old stories in front of a relatively new audience.

I came home from Houston and did a face plant in my bed. Sooo tired. It was totally worth it, however .... such a good time. (Elsie has worse allergies than I do ... so she's a bit of a noisy sleeper .... I kept dreaming of Almathia being killed by bears and eaten by moose. Elsie provided the sounds of the bears growling.

Actually, at this exact moment, I am in bed watching the new (NEW) episode of "Family Guy" ... which is hysterically funny.

Hey, so this is where the Houston post ended up.

I had such a fun time meeting everyone! and I really love the hardcopy version of the Last Unicorn that Ralph gave me.

And now I gotta actually do homework.

But I'll bet the author was pleased as punch, to find such an enthusiastic fan!! Quite an ego-boo for him, I should think. That should cheer *you* up, knowing that you really made his day.
