I've had my reader since April--love the thing and use it every day. Only once has it spontaneously rebooted on me while I was reading. I've never had to "reset" it--except when I was updating the with the flasher. It's been very stable.

This was caused by a bug in an older version of PRSC. If you flash your Reader with the latest version, you will not see this again (and if you don't, and are reading between 00:00 and 01:00, it will again skip an hour).

With regards to stability, haven't had a single problem in all the time I've had it (8 months). It was extremely cooperative even through all the various firmware flashings I've put it through, and I've put it through a lot (more than I can count). Never bricked it.

It truly is the only electronic device that I have ever had that has so far worked absolutely flawlessly. And since it's made by Sony, this is beyond surprising.

One year down and the only issues I've had is the system "locking up" with some rtf files. In saying that it was pretty early on and it may just have been that I was impatient.......
