Hi BenG,
That's a great idea, but unfortunately, I did try it and it didn't work. My husband is an IT guy, and he spent some time trying to figure it out as well (that was one of his suggestions), without any success. I was hoping to run into someone here who had the same thing happen, since all the intuitive fixes and work-arounds seem to be dead ends. |

Hi Bob,
I know it should go into the MyLibrary file, and it's so frustrating that I can't get this figured out. I'm pretty sure it did happen to someone else here at MobileRead, because I was able to find an old thread here that pointed me to the litpath.lpt file associated with MS Reader. When you open litpath.lpt with Notepad, you are able to (albeit a bit tediously) sort through the gibberish until you find the path to the temp folder the .lit file is in. Which makes me think that if I could somehow change the default file association for downloads in MS Reader, maybe that would do the trick? |

I upgraded to XP from Vista on one machine so I am not much help there. Check your original installation of MS Reader. Since the linkage between IE and MS Reader is required for most LIT downloads, it seems to download into a temp file, opens MS Reader, and saves the file after validation in MS Reader. Perhaps setting a default directory under MS Reader might solve the problem.

The file association tells Windows what application to launch when you click on the file. It also tells it what the file type is. So, there really is nothing to do with downloading in this case. I did find in the registry the path where it puts content.. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\eBook -> ContentDir But there is nothing in there about where it puts the book. Do you always have this problem, or just intermittently? What version of Ms Reader do you have? BOb |

Hi Bob,
>Did ebooks that didn't end up in the My Library folder work? where they complete? Yes and yes. Once I'm able to navigate to the .lit file in the Temp folder, I just copy and paste the file into the folder that I want it in (I keep a folder on my desktop called Convertlit, and I have folders inside it to organize the ebooks), and covert it from there. >The file association tells Windows what application to launch when you click on the file. It also tells it what the file type is. So, there really is nothing to do with downloading in this case. Sorry for the nomenclature error ![]() >Do you always have this problem, or just intermittently? What version of Ms Reader do you have? I've had this problem right from the get go. In fact, it was a huge part of why I initially had so much trouble with converting--I was following everyone's directions, but the .lit file was nowhere to be found. I installed the most recent version of MS Reader (current version as of about 1 month ago). |

I was up in your neck of the woods this weekend! I made it door-to-door (excluding my one short bathroom/snack break) in 4 hours flat. Keep in mind, I was actually going a little north of Tampa (Zephyrhills), so I could probably get to Tampa proper in about 3 1/2.
