Boox Note 10.3 USB-C Cable

it appears there is something about the Boox Note 10.3 that only wants USB-C to A cables.

eeeink, I may have given you the wrong impression, the cable I use for connecting the Boox Note 10.3 to my PC is USB-C to USB-C.

I think the problem might be with OS X.

I think the mistake is mine: it's clear that *some* Boox Notes work with USB-C to USB-C, and some don't (I think this thread shows). I've also tested these devices with a Windows computer, and they also fail; as well, the wall adapters and usb-c cables from Pixel, PixelBook, Nintendo Switch, etc are of course operating system agnostic.

I have just received my Boox Note Pro and I experienced the following:

• No way to charge when the origin power is USB-C
• I've tried three different USB-C (PD) chargers and it failed
• I've tried two different USB-C Power Banks and it failed
• The failure has been experienced with 4 different USB-C to C cables (Anker, Amazon, Aukey and no brand)
• USB-c to USB-C works fine to sync or transfer data (from my MacBook Pro). When I connected the Note Pro it woke up from sleep but did not charge
• I've tried three different USB-A to USB-C cables from several power sources and they all worked fine. The Boox got charged. One of the cables tested is with a magnetic tip.

I decided to comment even if the thread is quite old to stress the fact that the issue is not solved.
I agree with others that this drawback would have prevented me from buying (If I only had found the thread before ordering!!!)

I think the problem might be with OS X.

I don't think it's specific to OS x, I never got my Note to charge via USB-C PD chargers either (I tried two or three different ones with different cables, as well as a USB-C PD compliant power bank). Admittedly, my attempts were all last year (reported in some other thread here), I finally got used to the fact that I'll need a "stupid" USB-A charger for the device.
My conclusion was that power delivery is not implemented on the device, but if you got it working maybe it's just not properly implemented and your equipment is more tolerant in that respect? (Maybe similar to the issues that the Raspberry Pi 4 was recently found to have with properly implemented chargers - apparently it only charges with cheap chargers that ignore the device self-identification).

The problem is not originated from a Mac OSX USB powering, it originates from any USB-C or PD source, regardless of the cable brand. This for the charging issue.

On the other hand, for data transfer or sync, USB-C to USB-C works fine on Mac OSX.


So at the end, to charge: USB-A charger and USB-A to USB-C cable.

Has anyone investigated whether the new Note 2 with OTG support will charge off USB C PD chargers? Their website isn’t very clear on this so I suspect it won’t.
