This is such a huge issue that they should send protectors to customers for free. At the very least they should offer or link to a professional protecor installation service.
After one month of using a swype keyboard on Max 2 the area became ugly. Not ugly enough to fall out of love for my device, but so much that I hardly dare to use it anymore. Last edited by onyx2001; 05-29-2018 at 05:42 AM. |

I must agree with you most definitely - this is surely such a bad situation that you are within your rights to return the Max 2 as not fit for purpose as bought? As suggested, the device must be fitted at the factory with a protector or at the very, very least, a pack of 2 or 3 provided in the initial purchase-pack and advice strongly recommending that one is immediately fitted included! I can imagine this problem is going to become an issue - as it certainly should - for Onyx. Sorry to hear about your problem, do you think it may be worth returning the device for a new one that you may fit a protector to immediately upon receipt? Surely you're within your rights to go down this route? I really hope you're able to get satisfaction with this awful problem - one doesn't expect to pay nearly £700 for a product that essentially 'wears out' within a year.... John B. |

somehow the scratches are hard to catch with the iPhone camera but this should suffice:

Boox screen scratches
My goodness - they are really BAD! Is that your actual screen may I ask - I'm hoping you'll say it isn't.....
If it is - surely you can return the Boox for a new one - maybe? Very clear from your image, thanks for the post. John B. |

I‘m interested in finding out if Onyx is still the POS company it was ten years ago.
They sold practically unusable devices and the didn’t learn anything from that (or it took them VERY lobg to change anything). I think their business model is actually to churn out as many devices as possible no matter their condition and hope that as many as possible are not being returned. |

Well, that was surely a gone past five years ago, when I started buying and could witness.
Yes, their definite appearance is that of slow, paced improvers. In a market with little or no competition (I include as a requirement 'devices that work out of the box, "not licensed but owned", without any need for Internet connection to do their job' - which removed all big names at the time. Today, I am not informed if the big-company changed policy in the firmwares, but I get they do not release devices with big screens anyway). |

Although I hadn't personally experienced any scratches on my Note, I got a little bit worried after reading about the experiences of Max2 users and after seeing the posted photo of the scratched Note.
Completely unacceptable in my opinion. If such a problem is known, screen protectors should be freely provided, although they should ideally be installed in the manufacturing stage. As a precaution, I ordered three such screen protectors from Amazon.com. The first. I messed up. The second worked well enough. The several small air bubbles are from slight pieces of dust. The third screen protector, I have kept as a reserve. Because the screen protectors were considered "add ons" by Amazon, I had to order some other merchandise which I didn't really need to get them. Obviously, that added to the cost of an already expensive device. I am very happy with my Note, and don't regret my purchase. However, I think that Onyx could have and should have done much better by its customers. |

Just be aware that, because it is large and a close fit, it is more challenging to apply than a regular screen protector on a phone. It's also challenging because of the sunken screen... That's why I ordered three. I messed my first one up. The second one went on nicely, but I have a few air bubbles due to very small pieces of dust which were on the screen. However, they don't affect usage of the device at all and aren't really all that noticeable. I had to point them out to my wife. From the reviews on Amazon, it seems that others are also experiencing some difficulties applying the screen protector so I would definitely advise getting at least two of them. |

Doesn’t the screen protector affect the clarity of the screen and sharpness of the font? Or is that overrated since the screen is not the sharpest to begin with?

My experience is that a good matte film actually improves the visual quality, especially since it greatly reduces the glare. But for the moment I had it installed on the MaxCarta, which was the bad side of sharp to begin with.
