What version of Kingsoft Office is that one? Is it better than the newer WPS?

Now you should see the portable table which I, with very little time effort and expense, prototyped and built to be able to work even outside of tables-equipped areas.

(Or probably, this bit is best to be left unseen)

Dear mdp,

many thanks for posting this. I just installed it on my Max2 and find it very useful.

To find the old version has become, for some reason, very difficult. A repository is still
https://www.apk4fun.com/history/6937/
Kingsoft Office is any version of "cn.wps.moffice_eng" up to version 5.x ; from version 6 on (up to current 10.x) it is WPS Office.
Kingsoft's website had a link to the old product, but at some point they replaced the linked file with WPS Office - which is a very different thing.

I have used this product so much, and I still will. It still seems better than all competing products.

The only real inconvenience I meet with it is the lack of the [CTRL]+[Arrow] shortcut to jump from word to word (a wanted feature when selecting text with [CTRL]+[Shift]+[Arrow] ).

Posting copy for relevance: a close-up of Kingsoft Office in working session.
The top bar, darkened in my version (I also use it with OLED), has buttons for opening toolbar, toolbar sections, and closing the document. It can be further hidden in the FullScreen mode or expanded into the toolbar.
WPS Office has a similar interface.

I just checked again the scenario for Office Automation software on Android - though I do not have the time to also test findings immediately.

And findings are there, because it seems that two applications I overlooked:
-- SmartOffice, from Artifex, still actively developed
and
-- QuickOffice Pro (1997-2014), acquired and then discontinued by Google.

It also seems I did not test Docs to Go for some reason, which I hope was not unnerving - though having so utterly disregarded it to the point of forgetting it is suspicious.

Moreover, there are updates for Mobisystems's OfficeSuite Free and AndrOpen Office, which may fix the malfunctionings experienced. LibreOfficeViewer is still the same version of yore.

Still unavailable, apparently, is what seems to be so purely necessary, and is causing this fecal swamp of having a dozen tools and none: a native Open Source Office Automation for Android, so that if you miss a feature you have it implemented. History is so young, people still so lost in politics and sex.

Incidentally, I will specify the reason why I do not keep faithful and contented with Kingsoft Office 5.x : it misses the [CTRL]+[Arrows] navigation. That remains a big fault.
(And it is one of the reasons why one then tries to use environments like a desktop-OS LibreOffice through tricks like desktop remote sessions on the tablet.)

I am using Microsoft Word with a license from my office. It works flawlessly and it has most of the functions of the desktop version. I only with I could install the plugin for Zotero! That would make my life much easier.

To be noted, Microsoft Word also works well with the sync.com cloud.

Just a trick that may be useful to those doing text editing on EPD, using the LibreOffice family, presumably through some desktop remote way or a monitor connection:

you will very probably want to center the page. Contrary to fast-switching screens, on EPD you want the screen to scroll as little as possible, the view to be fixed as much as possible. On LibreOffice, the command called
"[View > Zoom > ] Entire Page"
also centers the page(s) in the view. You will want to bind that command to (e.g.) a function key, through "[Menu] Tools > Customize > [Tab] Keyboard".
So you can center the page(s) on the screen with a key stroke. The trick is needed because default page scrolling ([PgUp], [PgDown]) may move the page(s) in random positions.

(I assume one also exploits the real estate without waste - fullscreen is [CTRL]+[Shift]+[J] ).

...Still pending: to (re-)test native, updated Android solutions. One day. The "Explore/Exploit" options dichotomy as expected leans more and more towards Exploitation with time.

I was passing by and noticed a thread on Office Automation, and it had me check for an update.

It seems a new OA software suite was published in the recent times: Collabora - com.collabora.libreoffice -, based on Libre Office and similarly open source.

I hope to test it soon.
