My eyes even do much better looking at a backlit device compared to a non-lit eReader or paperbook, which makes my vision go completely blurry within an hour or less, and usually causes a bad headache. On the other hand, I can read my Boyue eInk eReader with the frontlight on for hours with no problem, or stare at a LED or OLED monitor all day with no discomfort or vision problems. I know... it's heretical to admit that unlit eInk strains my eyes so terribly, but that's what happens. |

You can have many SD-CARD, one by subject or activity : personal or professional per example. In a professional context is very important. Even Android is a problem in a professional context, Windows is preferred because it is easiest to secure it. USB OTG is not a direct solution only a clever do-it-yourself : customized cable plus power supply. If you miss it, you could damage the Max2. You haven't the comfort of an SD-Card reader in the card reader. |

No front light, no sale. I'd be willing to compromise on other features, and even the front light doesn't need to be perfect, but it must have a front light. |

okay, so boox note has like 340% bigger battery compared to kobo aura one. they also claim "Lowest power consumption" on their page, though I dont know what they were comparing it to. the display is only 2.5 inches bigger than KA1. onyx boox note states 1 month standby time, thats what I get on my kobo aura one. so what gives? doesnt make sense.
anyone have any real world battery usage to share? |

well even if it was 100% more, the battery is still quite bigger. so i dont understand why every ereader device in existence has 1 month standby.
so thats what I wanted to know. does the boox note use some kind of subpar batteries to get these results? or is the HW not optimized correctly? because otherwise it sure looks like they pulled the claim "Lowest power consumption" out of thin air. Last edited by hkckoo; 03-07-2018 at 11:54 AM. |

That's just a gross indication for an order of magnitude.
You correctly asked for real world data, just do not forget that: there should be a standardized test which includes both "battery drain in mAh for 1h of device on but idle, with all radios turned off" and "battery drain in mAh with a standardized process ongoing". All of this is doable, all may not be really telling, as mileage varies with usage. Exact data is not widly publicized because with that rate, recharging the device every once in a while is not a problem. They don't do it on smart watches, which may not last the day (they do, and present unusable figures). Note anyway that there is a possibly chief factor: raw CPU speed. One device may be very responsive, but with the drawback of draining battery faster. Current Onyx devices mount a CPU that is a marvel of power efficiency (Cortex A17), and nonetheless drinks more than a Cortex B-bradipus. And also note that Android as an OS require more beefy hardware, hence possibly heightened consumptions - as a price paid by the members of its market placement, who want a flexible device that offers more than the embedded software. |
