Thanks all for the interesting explanation(s).

This book is not important to me and I'm about finished with it. Skipping some blocks didn't totally ruin the experience.

Actually, the book is fairly interesting escapism.

Curious...I wonder why there might be an issue with a free, unrestricted ebook like this being included as an attachment in a thread like this for debugging purposes?

Because the book is protected by copyright and neither you nor MR has the right to distribute it. Price and DRM-status have no bearing on this.
