Amazon Protective Cover for Kindle Paperwhite cost double of Fintie Folio Case for Kindle Paperwhite haven't even compare the leather one.
https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Protec.../dp/B01CO4XWDQ https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Folio-.../dp/B00MN8JL9S i like this too but it cost slightly more https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Folio-.../dp/B00B0I6D20 Last edited by steven168; 03-08-2018 at 09:42 AM. |

There's only $1 difference between the two Finties. The Amazon case doesn't look worth the money. Maybe we're judging them differently: both the appearance and the protectiveness of a case are important to me.

I have had the leather Paperwhite case (purple) for a few years and am very pleased with it. It does not look worn after continued use and protects the reader very well. It does add weight to the device but so much as to be burdensome, at least to me. I, too, had my doubts about a $40 case, but in light of the fact that it has held up so well, I can honestly say I would do it again.
I bought a Fintie case for the 2017 Oasis since I did not want Amazon’s original cover and wanted to protect the Oasis right away. I am also happy with that case in that it was relatively inexpensive, offers good protection, and looks pretty good (I got the Galaxy print). However, it doesn’t compare to the Paperwhite case and I’m not convinced it will last as long or look as good over time. Both cases have their pluses and minuses - each is a good case in it’s own way. It’s up to you to decide how much you want to spend. |

I use one of these neoprene carry bags:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is slightly too large for just a PaperWhite (they make smaller sizes too), but I have my larger Fire HD8 in there with the PaperWhite. It's a snug fit that relaxes over time. Perfect for what I wanted (some kind of handle to carry the thing, so I won't fumble and drop it). The Fire has this case attached to it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Then the PaperWhite has no individual case, but is put in the carry bag with it's screen facing the Fire, so it's well protected. I like the small size and low weight of the PaperWhite. Adding an individual case to it somewhat defeats those two good attributes. So the carry bag is ideal for what I wanted. In the side pocket of my little carry bag, I also have an super small MP3 player, some earbuds, some in-the-ear hearing protectors (so I can block out noise if I'm reading the Kindle), and a stylus for detailed work on the Fire. And for this last week, I also put my Nook Simple Touch in the main compartment. So I had a sandwich - Nook on one side, PaperWhite on the other, Fire in the middle. Initially this much stuff would have been a tight squeeze. But it all fits fine now, after 6 months use worth of stretch on the neoprene. This case appears to have been custom made for the Fire HD8. It fits perfectly. And I do mean perfectly! Mine is black, but the link above doesn't show that color currently. But these little neoprene bags are all over Amazon. Five million different vendors for them, with varying manufacturer names and varying prices (all are cheap though). They are probably all identical, coming out of the same factory in China or Guatemala. It's my little "entertainment bag". (Don't call it a purse, because guys used to get beat up for carrying purses!) |

I too hate cases because of added weight but I've been very happy with the Fintie cases. They aren't thick enough to protect against a fall on concrete, which is an issue with commuters who use public transportation. But for everything else, they are great. Automatically puts Paperwhite into sleep mode when closed, saving you power.
Also there are two different Fintie cases. One is the thin one, which is what I referred to. There is also a thicker Featherstone one, but it may not work with the on off. Last edited by Tarana; 03-10-2018 at 11:34 AM. |

Some people love the Voyage Origami and I absolutely hated it. So, I'll be sticking with Paperwhites and my Amazon covers. I'm old enough that the Paperwhites and covers might well last me the rest of my life. |
