Unfortunately my font doesn't show up in any of the bold settings. I probably set something up wrong. I guess I'm getting too old for this.

It's like something is not connecting. I've tried three fonts – the one I really want, Constantia – plus ChareInk and one other. Either 5.8.11 software is somehow blocking the override, or (probably more likely) I've simply missed something. Just not sure what.
Supposedly, it doesn't work with KFX format eBooks. Maybe that's the problem. And supposedly with custom fonts the bold slider doesn't work.

That's probably it. I just went ahead and uninstalled everything, did a factory reset, reinstalled 5.8.0, then upgraded back to 5.8.11. Hopefully everything is back to factory.

What finally made me decide to do this is that, somehow, I got my Kindle to reset every time I tried to change the fonts. And I think I've rebooted this Kindle many, many more times then I've rebooted all the Kindles I've ever owned (all together) in the last five or six years. Maybe I'll make another run at it later. Right now I just want to read with my new Kindle. Palatino on the 2nd Bold Setting looks pretty good (though it's not Constantia).

Slightly off topic. Is the Font_Ramp hack supposed to work on the original Touch which is jailbreaked and using the USE-ALT-FONTS with an additional font added? Because I can't seem to make the font sizes differ from stock no matter what I do. Yes I have followed the numbering and the restarting procedures.

Nope. FONT_Ramp was introduced somewhere around firmware 5.6.x and original Kindle Touch's latest firmware is 5.3.x.
So editing those hardcoded values in jar files is the only option for Kindle Touch.

Oh, thanks so much. At least I know why it didn't work!

True, but JBPatch will edit them for you on each start-up.

But if running 5.3.7.3, you might have to downgrade a few version steps to support some of the features.

Read the wiki page linked to above.
