...Matter which, by the way, makes me slightly uneasy with the prospect of Android 6 - and in specific makes me wish we could have the possibility to flash two system, as it is somehow possible now: the Android 6 they are customizing for the new devices, and the Android 4.0.4 we are used to.

This, because if it were Android 4.0.4, I already know its generic performance and I only expect performance gains from a higher processor. With Android 6, we have to hope that the fine tuning goes well, and that the system as it will result will not eat up the gains we have secured with the better CPU. It is a bet.

When counting cores it should be mentioned that some multicore devices count the graphics processor and the CPU as a multicore, particularly on eBook readers.

This could explain why in the ARM world you see from benchmarks that supposed quad-core behave like tri-core (e.g., Geekbench3 values for the rk3188, 490 single 1200 multi).

Another peculiarity apparent with benchmarks are the multi-cpu boards: sold as "hexa-cores", very inconsistent results after you run the benchmark multiple times reveal that the active CPU is chosen pretty unpredictably: sometimes the dual-core CPU "A" is working, sometimes the quad-core CPU "B" is.

Dale, do you have examples?

The Rockchip family shown in our wiki are all dual core with the second core a DSP.
