Not everyone's opinion of EPUB is your, as well. I wish the moderators were as tired of your formatting comments as the rest of us.
I get sick of JSWolf's formatting comments too, but this one is really bad, even by Phoenix Pick's standards.

I don't know if I've ever seen any eBook as badly coded as this one.
You mean you don't adore in-line styles?

I've seen 3 ebooks with the same craptastic formatting. All 3 were Phoenix Pick/ArcManor freebies. As mentioned in this thread, the .mobi version was a lot cleaner and converting it to epub was a giant step to having a cleanly formatted epub. Saved me from sending Code of the Lifemaker by James P. Hogan to the recycle bin which I was very tempted to do, since to my eyes, the effects of the jitter from the styling made the .epub hard to read.

Ghod knows, I've dealt with weird formatting produced by Vellum and InDesign to mention two programs that love impossible to read stylesheets but at least they have stylesheets.

Hmmm... I think this is the 3rd time I've agreed with Jon on formatting.

I skimmed thru the mobi and epub from this year and 2013. all are entirely readable, although there are some differences. the latest epub has a smaller default font and a space between paragraphs. I generally don't prefer it that way, but know some do. In any case, the text is readable on the devices I tried the ebook upon. And one could always grab the mobi and convert to epub, if you don't care for PP's autoconverter text.

I just tried the epub in Bookari and I couldn't even change the font size.

Thanks to JSWolf. I didn't bother with the epub. Just downloaded the mobi.

May I also suggest a little more tolerance. If you find some posts annoying, you can skip them. Or, in the extreme case where they drive you totally to distraction, set your options to ignore the particular user.

The major issues for me were not being able to change the font to my preferred font nor did changing the font size work--the inline style forces an 11.5pt font size. That font size is a bit small for my old eyes. The positioning jitter caused by the inline styles is a relatively minor irritation but a totally unnecessary one.

The large HTML file is an issue for some but Starborne is a monolithic book created by with no chapter breaks so that structure is to be expected.

Just a reminder that this will probably be the last day to pick up the freebie and/or purchase the tie-in bundle, if you're interested.
