Can I use my samsung galaxy a5 2016 fast charger to charge my kindle paperwhite? - Page 2

So based on what you said, most probably I'm going to buy a new adapter instead of risking the use of this one. another member of this forum (Eliy) said that he's using a similar adapter to charge his kindle, but I'm still not sure if by prolonged use of this charger I will damage my kindle or not, so It's better to buy one. I live in Iran, do you have any suggestions for a good charger for kindle, please give me a link to one or to a few adapters. also what's the deal about the powerfast chargers amazon offers, do they really charge the kindle faster, and if yes are they safe to use or do they gradually damage the battery in some way?

There is no technical description of its "Adaptive Charging" -
So there is no way to know if the Kindle would trigger the 5.volt range or the 9.volt range.

Just get a plain, no frills, $0.76 wall charger for 5 volt (common) devices, not one for tablets or smart phones.

my adaptive charger is the one you have given the link to. the reason I wanted to use this one is because I thought it would charge it faster than the normal ones. and besides

If it is advertised for a kindle, it will not damage a kindle battery.
I have a kindle charger. It will charge pretty much any tablet and cell phone.
Now I wouldn't recommend an older LG charger. They are slower and will not charge most tablets.

@JSWolf, I live in Iran and because Of the embargo placed on my country, I cannot buy directly from amazon or similar sites in america, so I have to buy the adapter through a third party company which will buy it from amazon, then send it from their offices in america to another country like dubai or turkey and then send it to my country which significantly increases the price of anything I want to buy from amazon (let alone the time it takes to get here), so it's not cost effective for me to order a charger from amazon (I have to pay like 3 or 4 times more than the real price to get it, at least), so if you have any good adapters in mind which is also not very expensive (but again it's good, safe and it charges the kindle fast), please give me a link. thanks in advance

Any USB wall charger will work fine. I'm sure you'll be able to buy one in your own country.

Do you have an electronic store in Iran?
Go there and buy a USB charger and cord. No need for third party anythings.

mostafa0071, It's not my business, but you already have a good charger. It is compatible with more than 200 models of Samsung cell phones. Most models do not charge from 9V. Only from 5V. The possibility of 9V does not destroy them. Look here http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mob...sta-compatible
But if you are afraid of supporting fast charging in the charger, you can buy absolutely any charger for gadgets only for 5V and 500mA and above (750 mA, 1000mA etc). Do not buy Chinese noname charger. Bad chargers can carry a high frequency pulsating current and (or) unstable voltage

Thank you all for your answers, I guess I don't need to buy one from amazon since you're all saying I can buy any 5V and 500ma charger, and there's plenty of them available here, I previously thought it would be better to buy one from amazon because I thought there would be a difference between the regular chargers and the ones made specifically for kindle, since there's no or not much of a difference I can buy one right here. and what Eliy says also makes sense, my own charger is compatible with so many phones, from the old ones which used 5V and the new fast charging ones which use 9V, so most probably this charger sends the proper Voltage/Watt/Amp to the device which is being charged or the device itself receives the proper Watt/Amp. The Kindle has an entirely standard microUSB charging socket. Any USB charger will be fine.

The charger determines the voltage; the device controls how much current it draws. The USB charging standard of 5V @1A is a part of the USB standard, though, and any charger will be able to supply this.

It is always good to have a backup charger.

Meh, why buy another charger? It's more electronic waste. Just because some of you don't know how the 5V/9V charger works, that's not a reason to be afraid of it. It will work just fine without any side effects, trust me, I'm an engineer. You should buy another one only if you really need it.
