Regardless of how basic the settings are, something in your network configuration is different from tens of thousands of other CC users who don't have the problems you describe. I don't know what that "something" is, but probably it is in the router security configuration, wireless band exchange configuration, or the windows networking configuration, things that CC cannot change. Logs won't tell me anything about this sort of problem. They will say only that connections didn't work. You say that you are using "an unsecured network because of your app... which is unacceptable." We don't want to be part of an unacceptable solution. If you purchased CC then we can give you a refund. See our FAQ I must pay for CC to try it. Can I get a refund if I don't like it? FWIW: I have a Google Chromecast device that works only if my phone and the cast device are connected to the "same band" on the "same WiFI access point". I must turn off 5 GHz on that AP to cast music to the device, and I must ensure that the phone isn't connected to either of the two other APs in my house. This is counter-intuitive but it is demonstrably the case. Despite hours of attempts, I have found no other solution. I offer this only to illustrate that home networking isn't a solved problem. |

Looking at Windows firewall, I saw a list of like a hundred "private networks" Not Connected in there, all the same name as my N wireless network. I reset my pc's network settings (using Windows' "reset pc" option), and rebooted. Probably as a result of my testing last week when I disabled private network. This was the only change I had made to Windows firewall.
To my knowledge nothing is changed. This is basically back the way it was when this started, so I can't report what has changed. I re-established my secured network connection without issue. I disabled Windows Firewall and rebooted, then re-enabled it. Bottom line, my CC then connected to Calibre. Funny now Windows shows I have no network connection, however I obviously have one (google it, you'll see may unresolved threads inquiring about this with microsoft). Freaking microsoft - I told you this would be their fault. Another NO vote for Windows 10. Thanks for your help, and sorry for the hassle. IF for any reason this stops working again, or if I can provide any further info I'll come back to you. |
