Amazon did not have to purchase the owner of the Ivona voice system, nor even if they had, choose it to solve their missing HID problem for the courts.

They purchased Ivona at about the same time we incorporated speaker independent voice recognition and control into the Kindle Touch.
And we certainly did not have to increase the RAM size of the Kindle Touch nor speed up the processor to do it.

Tightening the focus: Do all of the above support KFX format aka enhanced typesetting? I have googled a little bit but I have not found out for sure which firmware version introduced KFX. I think it was 5.6.5.

Enhanced Typesetting was added to e-ink Kindles in the 5.6.5 firmware. Only 6th generation or later support it.

The KFX feature set has changed over time and newer firmware supports more KFX features. For example, KFX support for HTML tables and Page Flip were added in 5.7.2 and KFX manga mode was added in 5.8.5. Most KFX firmware changes are undocumented.

And the 'cover mode' of the screensaver add-in (see Developer's Corner) has only been recently fixed to work with the most recent KFX format.
Those users wanting to get 'cover mode' working in ss for all Amazon book types, should see the appropriate forum and thread for that subject.
