Now on KU and non-fiction, I forgot what I was looking for but I had to go through at least 10 books before I found a useful one on whatever topic I was looking for.

...
I can live with that - it takes hardly any time to request up to 10, skim through them, return the dross, rinse & repeat... I just have to be careful to keep track of which ones I previously rejected and returned, to avoid going around in circles. I don't think there's an accessible history of what you've sent back
I know you can only have 10 borrowed at any one time but I am not aware of any restrictions on rapid turnaround. also, filtering for cutstomer ratiing of 4+ should greatly reduce how many books there are on any one topic.

I suspect that urban fantasy aka hot sex with were-creatures accounts for a disturbingly large porportion of the 1 Million fiction titles on offer .

I would suspect you are right with another portion being the old Charlie McCain song, "who's seeing who", or a third rate romance. Sorry having a hard time with family friendly terms. I see a good 1/10 is correctly categorized as not family friendly. There is probably another 2/10 miscategorized as romance. So 1/3 is probably not fit for my aunt or my youngest daughter.

i thought that only listed what you'd bought i.e.own + what you still have on loan. you reckon it also keeps track of returned loans ?

if so that is good; one issue I have with overdrive library loans is that there is no history, so unless you keep records somehow it's easy to re-borrow something you've already read. you can I think find a list of books you reviewed but I am not in the habit of reviewing library loans

back in the day when you checked out a physical book by taking it to the counter with your library card ( showing my age here) the librarians would sometimes say - you had that one last month do you really want it again.
One reason I stopped going to my local library was that they sacked all those nice people and installed self- checkout and "swipe to return it yourself" machines

i can check KU records myself, as I have returned one book - so I will see if I can find a record of having done that

The advice about seeing your loan history was spot on.
testing with my fire tablet I can see a full record for both KU and or prime reading, going way back to 2015
Not for the once a month scheme though, whatever they call that one nowadays KOLL ?

I now see that I have ten items out when KU and PR are added together. I wonder if the ten item limit is across both combined, and not ten per scheme.

Post-apocalyptic is considered science fiction.
Oh and beware the paranormal romance. Many of those have as much to do with romance as I have to do with nuclear physics. (The only thing I know about that topic is how to spell it. At least I think I spelled it correctly. )

Not to worry, (ex-)President Carter was a nuclear engineer and he (famously) could not spell it.
(Well, almost, he didn't complete nuclear reactor school. Maybe he never got to the course on how to spell your own profession.)

Sort of like the rockit engineer who couldn't speel it but knew he where one.

There is something in those two comments said about having a narrow field of education (none of it good).
