Here's the one I made from an "At A Glance" zippered notepad. I took out the pad, put self-stick velcro strips on the back of the reader and the inside of the case. My reader didn't come with a case, and this was LOTS cheaper (~$3) than anything Sony had. I also took the "slider" out of the zippered pouch on the left side so as to be sure not to scratch the screen.
BTW pinwheel -- What "utter silliness" can I not resist? |

At peace with the standard
At first I was really disgruntled with the standard cover on my reader...and then I went out and bought a separate booklight the day before the integrated light was intorduced so I got even more disgruntled...
but now, after having the reader for a couple of months - I have decided that I am perfectly content with my standard cover and external light and don't need anything else. When the cover wears out, I will likely start a hunt for something more but for now I'm good. |

*sigh* I'm still looking. Someday I'll find an inexpensive case that I can decorate to my heart's content, and that will also protect the screen from being damaged inside my backpack.
Until that happy day, I'm carrying my 505 around in a Nintendo DS case. Protects it rather nicely. |

As you can see in the picture I will attempt to attach, you can decorate this tin. I simply printed out the picture of Stevie Ray Vaughn on a clear 8.5X11 inch label, cut it out, and stuck it on my husband's case. After we realized that his hand was removing some of the ink from the label, I covered it with a clear laminating sheet. That also adheres well, and it seems to bring out the color of the label more. (You can now see the blue color in the jeans he's wearing.) As for protection, my husband has used this for months, and it's worked perfectly to protect his reader inside his laptop bag. It works so well, we just bought one for our 12-year-old daughters PRS-505. |

Sweet! and Thank You!
That looks like it would work nicely in the laptop bag, too. |

Use Day Planner or Journal Covers
I used two covers that started their lives as something other than an ereader cover and both are excellent and relatively inexpensive. I splurged on the light wedge then bought a travel journal at Barnes and Noble ($19.99) that had refilalble journals. The Light wedge cover fit the leather journal perfectly and looks very cool.
I also bought a Sculley day planner cover as a second on ebay for $15.00 that fits the ereader without the light wedge. It looks especially cool and I get a lot of complements. Pics 1-2 = travel journal cover with light wedge. Pics 3-4 = Sculley cover with ereader only. PS: Superman skin on ereader from skinit.com |

Both look very cool.
They are soft covers, no strengthening material in them? |

I voted for the lighted cover, since I have bought it but still waiting for it to arrive... I'm hoping the LightWedge will protect the screen from all the various sharp objects in my purse... For now I'm using the standard cover and a vhs (gasp! - remember those?!?!) cover when it's in the purse.

I just got what will likely be my last cover unless I get the Lightwedge cover for Hanukkah.
It is the George Travel Organizer from WalMart. The only way it would have been any better would be if it was just a touch wider so I could use the stock cover as in insert to attach the Reader. Instead, I am using the Velcro I used for some of my other models. This one is very swanky. It is made to hold all your cards and paperwork when traveling. According the the description on the packaging, it has: Secured zipper outside (in other words, it zips all the way around 3 sides) 1 small push handle (a handle that slides into the spine of the cover, if you want to carry it by a strap) 1 pen loop (not really usable or needed with the Reader) 1 window (as in for IDs...covered with the Reader, just use the card slots instead) 1 removable passport cover (removed as the elastic loop it slides into is covered with the reader, you can tuck it into the pocket behind the Reader instead, if you need your passprt with your Reader such as when you are flying) 24 credit card slots (also good for business cards, ID or even memory cards) 6 open pockets (for larger slips of paper) ![]() ![]() ![]() It says it is "meticulously hand crafted from the finest Italian leather" and is pretty sweet. I don't know about that but it is nice and soft and smooth. It has lots of storage for about anything small such as business cards, ID, credit cards, memory cards and all. It is just big enough to hold the Reader when velcroed into place. I slid a piece of rigid plastic into the back of the front cover as screen protection. It was $17.44 in store, which is a whole lot cheaper than other leather folios that require you to velcro the Reader into it. Oh yeah, it was in the section with the luggage. just received the sony rugged coverb made from what looks like a durex plastic £20 a rip off worth a fiver at most and what exactly the point is I don't know. the screen is not covered so it can still get scratched you can only access the memory slots so you have to take the reader out of the case evry time you want to synch or update

Would have voted, but I use the m-edge executive case... does not quite fit into any poll choice.

Over in the thread about alternative light sources, we got onto the question of how long the plastic attachment points might last in either the original or leather covers sold by Sony. Does anyone have any data on this subject, or suggestions for an alternative?
