I don't think I'm obsessed with a narrow genre, if anything I am reading a wider range of fiction now than I did when I read paper books, but since getting an ereader I am able to read deeper into an author's backlist than I did before, and series are more appealing now that I can usually start from the beginning without having to hunt around the second-hand market to find the early out-of-print books in the series.

I noticed something similar. I've always been a mood reader, but now you say it, I've been more a genre glut reader since Kindle. Very weird.

Oh there is another genre i love to read, but they are rare like gem-stones in a garbage dump, Detective SF, you know like how the Asimov Robot series started out with.
Anyone has some good recommendations?
How about detective fantasies?
Randall Garrett's LORD DARCY is classic.
More recently, Tanya Huff's BLOOD TIES series.
(She also does great military SF but I'm sure you've already read those.
Ditto for John Ringo's TROY RISING and BLACK TIDE RISING series. Not sure how to classify his SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES fantasies but there is a vaguely detectivesque element to the stories.)

On the horror side, there are the vintage Seabury Quinn JULES DeGRANDIN series. Might be old enough to be PD by now but they were readable when I ran into them.

Binge away Roos! I've been ereading since late 2009, and I've been bingeing on Paranormal romance all that time. I love reading series to watch the progress of the characters learning and growing.

When I get tired of the Paranormal, I switch over to old fan fiction that I have on my pc that I used to read before I got into ereading.

I stopped reading paper books years before once the print became too difficult to read.

God bless ereading!

Interesting. Thanks for the pointer. At $3 it's worth trying.

Of course if you are really into mixing Roman History and Fantasty, then Harry Turtledove's Videssos Cycle (https://www.amazon.com/Videssos-Cycl...edove+videssos) is my favorite. I suspect that many here have probably read them already though.

I often buy more free ebooks than other priced books, though occasionally I will see a book that grabs my attention that is .99 or a few bucks more. I do choose carefully though when that is the case as you can spend a lot very quickly if you aren't careful.

Don't worry about it; just enjoy it. In my youth I read classics, history and best-sellers. In my old age I now read for enjoyment and what I like best is Mystery, Adventure and Science Fiction.

No Horror, but Fantasy stuff is an option, unfortunately i have read all from Ringo and i think Huff (as fas as M-SF goes) is also depleted, although i have to check for new stuff. Thanks for the tip!

Worry is a big word, more amazed, and a little confused. Then again I tend to flee in books when life is rough, and i had my share of death and disasters lately.
2016 has been a hard year, it shows in the number of books i have read

The paranormal i have left behind quite a while ago, discovered that my Sense of Wonder and accepting the idiosyncrasies that go with this stuff stretches just beyond what my brain wants to absorbs
It gets tiresome to hear my inner narrator jump in every other sentence with a "But..."

I'm just the opposite. I read fiction, first because I enjoy it and also because I learn a lot. I've read quite a bit of non-fiction in my life and much of it was useful. But I've learned much more from fiction.

All in all I think there's more truth in fiction than in non-fiction. Not facts, but truth!

By the way, I suspect I do have a bit of Aspergers.

I think of binge reading as a non-problem myself. I've always read multiple books in a given genre and then turned to another genre when I got tired of the previous one for a while. Sometimes I even have had two books at the same time and when I wanted to read one I read it and if I didn't feel like reading that one I would read the other. I still do that in fact.

I find I binge serially. I was on romance for awhile, then nonfiction (political), now I am binging on murder mysteries. I guess it depends on what caught my eye last time I loaded my kindle.

Behind Closed Doors started the recent obsession, followed by The Woman in Cabin 10 and The Girl Before.
