The most commonly missed step in the instructions is the one about setting "Metadata management" to automatic on the "Sending books to devices" page of the calibre preferences. I don't know why people miss it, but at least half the people who say they have done the configuration properly but don't have collection created have missed this.

If this is done, you can take screenshots of the driver configuration and post them. Or run calibre in debug mode and post a log. From the log I can usually see what is going wrong. To do this, right-click on the preferences button and select "Restart in debug" mode. Calibre will restart. The connect the device and wait for the device connection jobs to finish. Then close calibre and the debug log will be displayed. Post the full contents, or PM them to me if you would prefer.

I've had a play today and it seems like you have discovered a bug in the firmware. It appears that the id of the SD card is not being recorded against sideloaded kepubs like it is for all other formats. Including purchased kepubs. That means the kepubs that have been sideoaded to the SD card are not being treated in the same way as all other formats.

David, I wonder what happens with Kobo purchased and synced kepubs when main storage is full, and they are downloaded to the SD card?

ok, does this bug only exist in fw 3.16.0? or is it in all fw versions.

They are downloaded to the SD card. I had to force that to happen when I was testing over the weekend. And that's why I know only sideloaded kepubs don't have the SD card id recorded against them.

One thing I have to check is what happens to the purchased kepubs on the SD card if I eject it. I forgot to check when changing the cards.

I was testing with more recent firmware. I'd be pretty sure it is in all firmware since Kobo started recording an id for the SD card. But, I have no real interest in testing older firmware.
