I think the time is right to wrap all KSM(despite a good job from tshering, has too many shell scripts, and not open source, ) in a BIG BEAUTIFULL single open source binary with a basic install package and all functionalities wil be in plugins that one can add or remove at will. All the folks using koreader to view pdf files will sooner or later turn to bigger screen readers, I think ONYX BOOX MAX(13.3") or others, if things will not change. This is a personal opinion.

Too many shell scripts?? Can you have "too many" scripts?? You want to have the thing compiled into binaries, that can't be so easily modified? Who are you suggesting should make this change? KSM has been basically a "one man" project. While tshering has been very good about listening to ideas from us users, it's been his work that keeps KSM the so useful tool that it is. It has been much more than just a KOReader launcher. The features/"functionalities", added in addition to the launching functions, mostly came from tshering kindly addressing issues/requests of other users.

It isn't related to fmon. Koreader crashes because it doesn't support 32 bit framebuffer.

I've opened a bug here with a valid solution for me, but I'm sure that the problem would be solved in the next few weeks by hwhw or houqp

1. Plug the ereader to your computer
2. Open the file explorer and find the file koreader.sh under .adds/koreader or .kobo/koreader, those folders are hidden by default in linux and mac, but visible on windows.
3. Open the file .adds/koreader/koreader.sh or .kobo/koreader/koreader.sh in your editor of choice. If you are using windows notepad++ will do the job.

4. find the string:

./reader.lua "${args}" >> crash.log 2>&1

5. paste:
before the string

geometry=`fbset | grep geometry | sed 's/ /*/g' | xargs`
last_geom=`fbset | grep geometry | xargs`
geom1=`echo $geometry | cut -d "*" -f2`
geom2=`echo $geometry | cut -d "*" -f3`
geom3=`echo $geometry | cut -d "*" -f4`
geom4=`echo $geometry | cut -d "*" -f5`
fbset -geometry $geom1 $geom2 $geom3 $geom4 16

and after the string

fbset -$last_geom

6. save the file & unplug the device

I have an Aura H2O, a GloHD and an Aura ONE. All with fw v.4.2.8432. The trick works well in the Glo HD and in the aura ONE, but in the Aura H2O the screen is reversed (rotates 180º) how can I fix it?

You can try to add

cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/rotate > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/rotate

after

fbset -geometry $geom1 $geom2 $geom3 $geom4 16

and see whether it works.
