My 500 is on the way, but doesn't have the USB cable. I have a PSP charger on the way, too, so all I need is the ability to sync with my computer. I have this one that goes with my digital SLR. Can y'all tell if the smaller plug is the one that mates with the PRS-500?

I found the USB charger to be pretty useless so I bought one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...c+sony&x=0&y=0 which works beautifully anywhere in the world (allegedly!) |

No, seriously, it charges in a quarter of the time it takes the USB - I just haven't tested it all over the world yet......... here's hoping ![]() |

I don't think that's a mini USB either, pilotbob -- too many conductors and the shape isn't right.
![]() I believe this is more what you should be looking for, taildragger-j3: second one from the left. |

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the help. I'll run to Wally World (AKA WallMart) and get the correct cord. FedEx says my 500 is supposed to be here tomorrow!!!

jwhayn,
This is the same type of cable that I use, and reported on this type of cable elsewere here several months ago. I use the cable with my blackberry wal-wart charger and it works extremely well. It is nice having just the one Y cable for both charging and USB functionality. The only thing that one must remember is to not use the USB to attempt recharging via a wall charger. I have made this mistake one or twice, and it causes the Ebook to rescan it's system upon disconnecting the charger. |

My Charger has arrived but....
My charger has arrived but it is the same as the wifes plug I previously told you about.
![]() It has a USB port on the plug and the seperate cable is a USB to a round socket which has a yellow tip (what do the colours on the tip mean anyway?). The inside of the round socket looks like this (sort of) -0- which looks to be a specialist socket specifically for the PSP (well it looks like others I have seen on the web) - are you sure it will fit the 505 (I will not get mine till Thursday). ![]() ![]() "My Original message said - I have ordered mains charger (PSP) from play - There is another one but that says USB so I went for this one http://www.play.com/Games/PSP/4-/598...r/Product.html Actually it looks like I have not exactly received what I ordered. I suspect the colors don't mean much of anything ... except perhaps to the folks who manufactured it.
![]() If I'm understanding you correctly, you've got a wallwart with a USB output, and an adapter that goes from USB to a PSP DC power input jack. I have a similar setup that I've used to charge my 500 (which has the same connection/charging requirements as the 505) quite successfully several times. And yes, mine will charge through the DC in jack from a regular USB port as well. I suspect that as long as the adapter does, indeed, fit the power connection, you're probably fine. One way you can check it is to see if it'll fit a PSP -- those are a lot easier to locate than Readers are. You probably know people (or their kids) that have them, and you may be able find one in a store on display. All you have to do is see if your plug fits, if so you're probably in good shape. ![]() |
