I have three laptops all running calibre, two are windows, 10 and 7, and one is a Mac on Sierra, my library is in dropbox.

On the android Calibre Companion I can use any laptop to send books to the app from Calibre, the CC app on my android device works with all three, but on the IOS CC it appears that I can only use the laptop I initaily set up the sync from Calibre. That seems to be at least one reason why I get the "ControlError: Device responded with incorrect information" message.

Does that sound right for the IOS app? And should it work differently to the android app for syncing?

Hi; no, it doesn't seem right that you can only connect to the original laptop in the iOS version. I don't have an easy way of testing with multiple laptops anymore, but certainly to begin with that was tested and it wasn't a problem. Could you try connecting again and then send me a debug log from within the app? It gives me more information about what part of the connection process didn't work.

Hi Steve. It's not just a new laptop issue, its any session adding new books, at least it is for me.

I download CC on my iPad mini 4 on 19th November and added a large amount of TXT files (over 4500). I then went to connect it today (20th) and the error message "Device responded with incorrect info" was displayed and CC disconnected. This was on the same device, my Macbook.

Right now the only way I can add new books is to delete the app and start again each time. I can't say if its always been like this as I encountered the error first on version 1.02, and only added books once on 1.01. I've seen the error on both my Mac and our W10 laptop.

In case you didn't send it, Steve will need the CC debug log. It contains much more information about what happened in CC. The calibre log says only that CC went away, which isn't much help in this case.

What you attached was a calibre debug log. My suggestion was that if you hadn't also sent a CC debug log as described in the "CC debug logs" section of that FAQ then you should.
