This would suggest that the best way to use the reader for a complete library is to have a large number of small memory cards, and divide the library up in a logical way between them. With 500 books per card you are never more than 5 minutes away from a book. As the time taken for the card scan seems to be related to the number of files, my current test is to combine all books in a series into a single lrf file, with a TOC jumping to the start of each book. The reader shows no problems opening or navigating a 10000+ page book, although the conversion time with txt2lrf increases dramatically as the size of the input file goes up. Thanks for that info MurrayPaul. It's very helpful. I've been converting some books over the last few days. I'm currently up to 92 and it's taking less than 50 meg. With the 505 having about 200meg free we're actually looking at quite a few books.
I don't think I'm going to have many problems there. |

Confirmed, with ~960 books merged into only 125, the scan time dropped to around 2 minutes. So it is definitely dependent on the number of books on the card, not the size of books.

What the scan does is read metadata from the ebook files. LRF files in particular have their metadata dtored in a well defined block at the head of the file, so the size of the file is totally irrelevant to scan time.
