I'm not sure. I used to be able to get to recent contacts (I believe double tap the home button), and now I can't find it. Doing a search, I find things like:

Every browser I've used has displayed a miniature page whether it was on a mobile device or a computer monitor. I viewed the HTML source and then the CSS file. The web designer hard coded in the page widths using pixel amounts. Not a very good way to make your browser available to multiple device types. I've no clue why Safari in iOS 10.x screws up the refreshes though.

The Calendar has been fixed in iOS 10. in iOS 9, there was a bug where when you went from calendar mode to daily mode, the date you picked was the date off the screen. You had to scroll down to get the date you wanted.

I finally got around to updating today, I had two iPads, two iPhones, one iTunes and a MAC to do. Everything updated without a hitch which I'll admit I wasn't expecting. Now to explore iOS 10 and Sierra.

Please let me know what you think of Sierra. I'll probably update my Macbook Pro at some point. I have the 15" model with i7 quad-core processors, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. I doubt Sierra would slow it down too much. However my older mid-2012 Mac Mini is already a bit slow with el Capitan as it only has i5 dual-core processors. I mostly use it as a Windows 10 dual boot machine via Boot Camp and mostly run it for those apps that I cannot get on the Mac. So I won't be upgrading it.

I have upgraded everything to iOS 10 now. Not crazy about the new Apple Design Language big bold fonts in News and Music. I don't like how stuff is bigger in general and seems to take up more space on the screen so more scrolling is required. Defeats the purpose of a bigger screen. I like the previous more compact look. I also miss having your graph data at a glance in Health. I'm glad that they fixed audio so now for example if I'm listening to audio on my phone while out for a walk and want to take a picture of something it doesn't stop the audio and you have to restart it.
Haven't updated my MBP to Sierra yet. I need to research whether there are any major issues yet for my model year. |

I did have a problem with the Disk Utility diagram showing my hardrive as having 197GB used (when it's only 6GB) and 184GB free. The details under the diagram was correct, just the visual was wrong. That's fixed in Sierra. |

I do have the Orientation bug on my iPad mini 4, generally. Plus I've had a few issues with the touch screen not being responsive on the lock screen and in emails. A hard reboot always fixes the problem, but it's a bit annoying.

iOS 10.1.1 released
Apple has released iOS 10.1.1. It says, "This update fixes bugs including an issue where Health data could not be viewed for some users."
Does anyone find the Health app to be useful. I've tried using it with my Garmin vivosmart HR watch and all I get is garbage. It does not seem to give me accurate information. The Garmin Connect app gives me a lot of useful information, but the Health app is a total fail. It connects to my vivosmart HR okay, but it just doesn't work well with it. Perhaps it works better with the Apple Watch. |

It works great with my Apple Watch. It also works ok integrating data from the MapMyRun app. I guess it doesn't surprise me that the Garmin app is more useful with the Garmin watch. I imagine it probably has more features that Garmin knows their users want.

The issue really isn't feature oriented, it is that the Health app is messing up the data. For example from today:
Health: Sleep Analysis = 2h 23m Garmin: Deep Sleep = 4:31h, Light Sleep = 4:03h Health: Heart Rate = 48-99 bpm Garmin: Heart Rate: Avg at rest 53 bpm, highest 99 bpm The biggest issue is with sleep analysis as the Health app is totally off the mark. |

The Health app never recorded my sleep properly so I did not rely on it to tell me anything. IN any case I detest the way the info is presented in iOS10... The overview of 9 was much more useful if you wanted to show your doc anything.
I now have an Apple watch (previously used Fitbit, and for some reason, Health NEVER recorded the data from daytime naps) and use an app called Sleep++. It works. Its fugly but it works. On my iPhone before the days of wearables, I had begun to use an app called Sleep Cycle and its excellent if you dont mind having a phone on your bed, plugged in to power, all night. It records ups and downs pretty accurately and passes that info to health without much of a problem. I cant wait til I can afford to buy a new CPAP machine that talks to my iPhone. |

I'm a later Baby Boomer approaching 60, so I find most of the so-called health apps to be nearly useless for my case. For me I just want to monitor sleep, heart rate, and activity levels. I'm not interested in dieting, running marathons, or most of what the younger folks do. I'm more interested in doing what I can to keep waking up on the sunny side of the grass! ![]() Last edited by jswinden; 11-08-2016 at 11:19 AM. |
