When I recently looked on Google Play I couldn't find the Ivona HQ app available anymore. I think it might have been pulled. Without that app the Ivona voices won't work. I was able to find the app on a download site so I grabbed it and backed up my voices (I have three) but I wondered if Amazon was quietly removing the option of using it for Android.

Looks like the Fire HD 6 is done. At least on the US site, they are no longer available from Amazon. (Just 3rd party sellers). Plus the subsidiary site Woot.com just had a blow out on refurbished units.

Like you, I still think the HD 6 is a nifty little device. To me, it was the most interesting tablet in the Fire line-up.

I really like mine. Even though I have larger tablets and smaller phones, the size and resolution make the HD 6 a great ereader. I wish Amazon would come out with an update with a card slot and the same screen.

Sounds like most of you who had/have the HD 6 really got good ones. Mine is a refurbished unit and definitely has issues, including the screen not being properly calibrated and quick battery drainage. But for the price of $43 USD delivered to my house I guess it was still a decent buy. I do like the size and the resolution is pretty good. But to be honest, I won't be buying any more Fires. I think they are okay for children, those little creatures who can tear up a steel anvil with a banana peel. I always thought it was silly to give an expensive smartphone and/or tablet to a young child. But with a cheap Fire a parent can look at it as a disposable device. And of course the cheap Fires can be more than enough tablet for a lot of people who are not power users. But if you really want to use a tablet for your main computing and entertainment device, a newer Fire is not the best solution by any means.

I love the 6" display. I use my HD 6 on a daily basis. Great little tablet. It's a pity they didn't continue making this size. Oh well, such is life.
