I honestly don't think that empty sidecar folders will have the slightest impact on performance, but please do report back and let us know the outcome of your experiment,

No, they won't be empty, but I'm still pretty sure their presence will not have the slightest impact on performance. All they're doing is wasting a bit of storage space.
Load your books with Calibre and delete them with Calibre and the problem will go away. |
