I am still finding my way around this new feature. Unfortunately its still a mess with collections not matching what I have in them on the kindles. Books that should not be in anything but the "read" collection are in other collections. But when I check on the kindle, it doesn't match. So I'll wait a bit until something catches up in the system. Will make it easier though to browse my books on the computer and add to collections as I buy them. I have 42 collections, I have always used them heavily. |

That prompted me to keep more of my collections in the cloud, and not on my kindle. So that I can have only 1 page of collections, with one real book at the bottom, to remind me that there are books here too.
My collections tend to be more "tags". A book is in several collections, so they don't all have to be local to the kindle. For instance, a book is in "paid$" and "paid-unread" till I read it. After I read it, it is in "paid$", "done" and "read2016". So "done" and "paid-unread" live on the kindle, but the others don't. It keeps the index less cluttered, while still allowing me to tag my books. Last edited by badgoodDeb; 10-07-2016 at 02:43 PM. |

I don't keep all 42 collections on my kindle. I have some catchall collections like you and try to keep it to one page. I have a collection of stuff that I am reading next so I just dip in there.

Yeah, I have a "MostCurrent" collection which holds stuff I really intend to read. Freebies that I may or may not sample just sit at the top level, not in any collections.

Yesterday the collection management started to work for me.
A big drawback is that it includes ONLY books from Kindle Store (aka "Books") and not the personal documents (Docs). On Kindle devices and apps you can add both Books and Docs. I'm going to complain about it to kindle feedback, maybe they will do something. |

We are heavy collection users, we have about 80 odd, can't even say how many for sure, split into three distinct sections. One section is a mix of docs and books, the other two are only books. I manage them well enough on the devices. I'm not sure how useful having them on the website would be.

Finally got collection management this morning. Right now it is unusable for me because I have 5 adults linked to my account. If you create one folder, it shows up on everybody's kindle. So, this is really a feature best suited for someone who doesn't share their account or does share an account and has limited folders.

Yes, but when you are sorting stuff into collections, going through 3 pages of them is awfully time consuming. Is there a shortcut that I don't know about?

I have 6 pages of collections if I add stuff on my kindles. So adding stuff on my computer with My content is going to be a bit faster and easier I think. But I'll still add it to "read" from my kindle once I finish a book. I am not always near my computer and its not always turned on. But for overall managing it will be quite nice.
I know my read collection is on the last page, so I just click 5 times fast on the button and its there. I may move it to the first page, not sure why I have it so far back. I use the (10), (20) and such numbers to sort by alphabet in groups. |
