@hkckoo The laptop was powered by the power cord or battery? Did the laptop really shut down (the power light off), or its screen just blanked out?

I don't. Different reader, different book. And if I do want to read the same book on different readers (think summers where I might read at night on my tablet and during the day on my e-ink device), I'll finish the chapter on the first reader before moving next to the other.

Every once in a blue moon a strange error like this will happen. If restarting it doesn't work (sounds like it doesn't) you'll have just have to do a factory restore. If it happens again, it's probably the book. I would use Calibre to convert it from epub to kepub and transfer it over. And make sure to eject the device before unplugging it.

By chapter, I go to the chapter that I'm in. You can also just search for the phrase in the sentence that you're on. That also works.

Hhhmm, I'm not finding that file.

Does the device only generate this file if it sees an issue as an error?
Or maybe it got wiped since the KA1 decided to go through setup again upon rebooting itself. When it did that I had to reenter my Kobo account, Wi-Fi password and Overdrive info all over again.

It was a kepub book converted from azw to epub, to kepub.
I'm hoping this was a one-off incident.

I'm just finding it frustrating after exchanging one device for a blotchy screen, having to hunt down my packages (twice) at FedEx because Kobo won't send shipping/tracking info. Kobo emailing me the very day of receiving the replacement to hurry up and return the faulty one or they will punch a kitten, or something to that effect....

With all of this, I'm just not finding it easy to settle into this reader and start to actually enjoy it yet.

the laptop really did shutdown completely. in a blink of an eye right after I plugged in the reader. i tried it with battery only and also with power cord in, the same thing happens.
