No difference for any of the services, for the exactly the same reasons. They are usually OK providing you pause syncing when you're using calibre - one issue with OneDrive is that Pause is time limited, IIRC Dropbox Pause is an on/off toggle.

Google Drive has a particular problem, so I suggest you avoid it (for calibre libraries at least), see ==> WARNING - Google Drive Incompatible with Calibre!

No, The issues mentioned applies to any cloud syncing software.

If you conform to the restrictions mentioned then most services are OK. The one you should avoid is Google Drive as it modifies file names.

The only time I pause dropbox is when I am updating my calibre install. Have been using it this way for many years now. Most ebooks are usually small so they sync with dropbox instantly. Unless you are changing hundreds of books at the same time or a very large books that are few mb in size you should not have any problems using calibre and dropbox.

@Dopedangel - I suspect the problem is not so much the book files, it's the database. Some people's databases are ~500MB

This is poor advice since it flies in the face of the programs designer analysis.

It might work for your library.

The (best practice) advice is for ALL libraries.

OP If you chose to follow this advice, please don't whine if it bites you later.

What you could do is use your local Calibre library. Sync (one way sync) that to your cloud storage directory and you won't have any issues using your Calibre library.

I've read many posts about people corrupting their Calibre library because they used it in their active cloud storage directory. Don't risk it. Just don't do it.

There is an alternative to dropbox - cloud storage MEGA.
His feature - 50 GB of storage space.
Does anyone have some experience with this storage?
