Kobo Reading Life stats not updating - Page 2

Do this using an editor that respects Unux line ends. On Windows, DO NOT USE NOTEPAD. I recommend Notepad++ for all you text editing needs.

It is possible the "FeatureSettings" section is already the file, so just add the other line after it.

With this, when you long press on a book in the library lists, there will be an extra menu item. This is "Reading stats". Selecting it will display the "Reading stats" page and the top section will be the stats for the selected book.

The reading stats on what I am currently reading is right.

But on the 'all items' stats it is a little wonky. It says 13 books are finished and yet only 2 are marked as finished in the books list, I have only actually finished 1 book on this reader and that I have had 74.8 hours reading. I haven't! I am still on my first battery cycle and have 57% battery left!

I loaded all the books with Calibre.

I bought the reader exactly last Saturday...
I think it is impossible I have read for 41 hours in 5 days...
That means 8 hours per day each day...impossible...
I have read completely 2 books (potter 1 and 2 ) and 2 comics...
Set the sleep after 15 minutes...
For example yesterday I checked the new firmware : I was 40,5 reading hours.
Opened a book, gone to the last page to set the book as read.
After that operation I was 41 reading hours...

I went into Settings > Reading Settings and on page 2 it gives the option to Track Reading Activity. I unticked the checkbox, reticked it and it wiped ALL the stats to 0

Just curious, but are you having battery issues as well? If so, maybe the KA1s aren't going to sleep for some reason, and that's why people are losing power.

Signing its status off in the left bottom ...
Maybe the only way to check it is to reset everything and look
If , after the fw update, the stats work perfectly...

I don't understand. I've done nothing... and the number of books increases normally (I don't know about hours, I don't usually look at them).

When you turn off your screen, is the book still open? Or do you go back to the home screen first?

I'm just guessing here, but if the book is still open while you think it's asleep, that could explain the increase in reading time even though you thought it was off. And if these devices aren't in deep sleep mode even though it looks like it is, then maybe that explains why people's KA1 batteries keep draining even after updating to firmware 4.1. If I were a Kobo developer, this is where I'd start looking.

Still open:
I usually do nothing, just put the reader on the table and wait for its
Sleeping time...
But when I turn it on, it goes to the home page and not where I left it..
By the way I'm gonna try to go to the home page after reading so I can see
If something changes

Yesterday 91...this morning after night 77...
So the problem is still present...
I am gonna try to go to the home page before turning it off

Curious again: Did your reading time increase by a large amount again by doing it this way too (say, more than 15 minutes)?

If you have been reading kepubs from Kobo, the statistics are stored on Kobo's servers and will be synchronized back to your ereader. After my last factory reset, I started with 11 books finished and 26 hours read.

The half hour jump on reading one page? That I don't understand.

We solved the problem about the half hour in a page:
In the home page you see the time In a shorter way...so 40,6 becomes 41
If you go inside the stats I see 40,6...
It remains the problem about the reading time...40,6 hours per 2 books...too much....
I have closed the book before turning off the reader and today from 77%, after 3 hours, is still at 77%...
Maybe it's like an user said that you don't really close the book and the reader and the time goes on the same....
Now I'm gonna try to close the book each time I turn the reader off so we can see the battery and the reading time in a different way and notice if they finally work correctly
