I also had the pink 5" Sony and later the red 6"one. Yes, the decal skins are lovely but unfortunately work out quite expensive when you ship to Europe.

The included instructions about using the cover as a stand make it clear that the top magnet should hold the top of the cover in the open and folded back position. I've found that to stand any chance of that happening I have to squeeze the fold hard against the device to properly align the magnet with the metal and even then the hold is weak. The bottom magnet appears to have a much stronger attraction but that one is redundant in stand mode. |

I haven't noticed any phantom page turns. Although, I think the stand feature of the cover could be better. I bent the cover along the crease several times to help.

For people who have this cover already: is it hard, both from the front and the back? I have a third party sleep cover for my KPW1, and it's as hard as a hardcover book.
I need that because I carry the reader in my work bag in public transport, and I don't want it to get damaged if someone bumps into the bag or it gets dropped or something. The Kindle has been surviving daily public transport trips for almost four years now, without a single scratch. Awaiting a cover, I now use a soft, cheap neoprene 8 inch tablet sleeve to temporarily protect the KA1, so it doesn't lie around the house naked. I don't dare put it into my work bag like that though, so I'm now reading a book on the KA1, and short stories on the Kindle in public transport until I can get a cover for the KA1. |

Now I've seen Stingo's comment I decided to pre-order it. Thanks.
In France, Kobo says it will be available on September 23, and Fnac from September 30. With the 5% adhérent rebate it comes to 42.74€, hopefully it will be arrive in time so I have it for my second next trip. Last edited by anacreon; 09-14-2016 at 07:23 AM. |

It's a little thinner, but stiffer, than the early kindle covers from Amazon, but the difference, of course, is that the cover rests on the screen, whereas with the raised bezels of the earlier ones it didn't. Last edited by jscris; 09-14-2016 at 02:01 PM. |

I think the only way to actually damage the KPW1 in this cover is to smash it with a hammer, from the front. I'd want something like that for the KA1, and it doesn't need to be a thin cover. The one for my KPW1 actually also covers the bezel, so the screen is even a 'double step down', if you know what I mean. I don't mind if a KA1 cover covers the bezels. I'm not hell-bent on keeping the front end flush at all costs. Last edited by Katsunami; 09-14-2016 at 02:11 PM. |

This is all very odd, isn't it? I thought that one of the benefits of capacitive screens was supposed to be that they only respond to skin touches not random touches by inanimate objects.

I hadn't thought about that. I don't know what's causing it, only that it's not where I left it when I open the sleep cover again.

My sleep cover is going back.
I'm having major issues with the auto-sleep feature. In other words, I close the cover and it doesn't sleep! The lights stay on and drain the battery down 50% or more overnight. I close the cover and I have to peer at the very narrow strip between the cover and screen. Lights stay on about 50% of the time and I have to do multiple open/closes before the lights finally dim and I know it's going to sleep. During the day it's impossible to tell if the lights are on/off so I've taken to reading with them entirely off so I don't have to worry about battery drain issues with the cover. A weird side effect: I have the auto-sleep timer set to 15 minutes. Having it in the sleep cover seems to negate that? At any rate, it didn't auto-sleep with the sleep cover closed and then never turned off automatically based on the timer either. I also find the stand capability to be weak (top magnet is much weaker than the bottom) and the stand doesn't really stay "standing". So overall, I'm VERY disappointed in the sleep cover. Especially at $50. I'm returning mine and waiting for a 3rd party cover. |

Just performed the totally scientific test of folding a bit of my t-shirt over my finger and tapping the screen. It actually took a few layers of material to prevent the screen from reacting to the touch. Maybe the cover is allowing enough of a passthrough to trigger the screen.
I don't have a cover, and don't intend to buy one. |
