Since the device has been opened, the power slider might not ever work again. (I know this from personal experience).

Tried hard reset. Don't think the battery is dead. Like I said, the led tends to alternate form blue to green for a couple of seconds and then stops. Screen does not change. Although the screen looks visibly okay, I'd probably wager something like a broken substrate as suggested. What else could it be? The rest of the electronics are all solid state circuity which should withstand a fall, nothing moving or mechanical. Darn...

Re-seat the sd card, if you haven't already. Literally, pull it out and then push it back in. Not much to lose at this point, and you never know. And/or try charging it for an hour before trying again (I'm really guessing it's just that something came loose but not noticeably loose when it hit the ground, either card or battery connector).

We've had cases of broken displays with no visible artifacts before. It's unusual but not impossible. If the display is broken, the touchscreen might still work, and the device itself might still boot fine. If you can make a USB connection with the PC (requires the device to be powered on, USB cable connected, and you blindly hitting the "Connect" button [instead of Cancel button], which is somewhere in the lower third, center of the screen)... if you get that far then that only leaves the display [or displaycable, displaycontroller...] If you had Wifi enabled and have a router where you can see online devices you could also check if it's still logging into Wifi. If it does then again, proof that device booted fine, only the display not working... |
