I don't really care about the OverDrive-direct-to-device feature myself, since OverDrive is just one of many ebook providers that libraries use, and sideloading via ADE is simple and works with all of the providers my library uses.

Not a big deal for me personally. Although I use my libraries OD collection quite often I don't have a problem with the way I currently have to do things.
It would make the most sense for Kobo to offer it on all models though as it would be a one up on their main competitor who only offers it for US customers (on all generations of devices and in apps). Last edited by AnemicOak; 09-05-2016 at 01:51 AM. |

I'd like to have it as of right now I read my library books on my tablet.
It'd be even better if they are kepub because it would allow more formatting control. I've returned a few OD books because of the publishers choice of font. Sent from my XT1528 |

After all, it is apparently, like Amazon, integrated directly into the bookstore -- and therefore downloads to your device from the bookstore, rather than OverDrive's ACS (Adobe Content Server). Although, of course, it has higher-quality integration than Amazon. |

Effectively, the books are added to the persons Kobo library for the period of the loan. Anyone want to jump to a conclusion from that last statement? |

Kobo's internet is permanently off, so I guess I could care less for me.

My library uses 3M, so having Overdrive on older devices doesn't matter to me, since I don't have access to Overdrive anyway.

While I would love to see this added to my old Kobo Aura (Edition 1?) since I sideload library book regularly, I certainly understand if they do not add this to older models. So far, my car dealer has not called to offer this year's model features on my 2007 car, for an upgrade cost or otherwise.
I am sure someone has a formula: If books sales go down and book loans go up, what is the delta to revenue? If the Overdrive revenue on the Aura One has a positive impact on the bottom-line, I would think it would be considered for older models. |

My library just dumped Overdrive and, pooling collection with other local counties, switched to 3m cloud. However, side-loading using 3m is an option, so that works for me (I use text-to-speech for non-audiobooks).
