White Paperwhite Arriving Today!

I have both the Voyage and the white PW3. My experience is that the Voyage screen & contrast is much better than the PW3. In fact, I believe the contrast of the Kindle Basic is better than that of the PW3. Going back to comparison with the Voyage, the light is much better (6 vice 4 LEDs) on the Voyage. Finally, the Voyage seems much lighter to me than the PW3. I am thoroughly enjoying the reading experience of the Voyage.

I have all three Paperwhite models and a Voyage. I use all of them regularly although I use the Voyage more.

I also have a Kobo Aura and until recently I had a Kobo Glo. And I have a Nook Glowlight Plus.

I'm not addicted. I can stop anytime. I can...I can.

Yes, i could tell the difference immediately after i opened the getting started guide that the screen on the pw3 better. And yes, the PW2 feels much richer than the pw3. I've been forcing myself to use the white Paperwhite, but i find myself putting it down in favor of my pw2.

Interesting. I've just bought a black PW3 and I think it looks very plush and well made. This compared with my 4 year old Touch. Both in Amazon cases but even without those they both look good, feel substantial.

I'm not really a fan of white gadgets. Quite apart from anything else, a black bezel is supposed to increase the perceived contrast of the screen I believe (why so many TVs have black surrounds). Was your PW2 back or white?

I have a white Nook Glowlight Plus and I was concerned that the white border would make the contrast seem less. Actually when comparing it with my Voyage it does seem a little less contrasty but not much. While reading though both are perfectly good.

That's not to say the Nook is as nice as the Voyage. It's not! But it's okay and the white doesn't seem to matter while reading.

One could always add a skin like https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009O...ref=mp_s_a_1_7 instead of buying a white Kindle. Or color it with random paint.

I also have the Paperwhite 3 in black, it's a nice well made device. I used it when I'm outside, or travelling, or going to an appointment. It has a case, and it gets tossed into bags or a purse. I never saw a crack in the case or screen, even with my old PW1. They look pretty solid to me. I also have a Voyage and that is also a well made device. I like and use both devices.

My apologies. To clarify,I meant my PW2 feels much richer than my white PW3. The back of the white PW3 is a different material.

I got a white PW3 during a sale for 70 quid w/o ads and mostly use it for reading (mostly PDFs with Koreader and non fiction for work) outside when it's really warm because the white plastic doesn’t heat up nearly as much as my black Kobo or iPad...
Otherwise I'm not too impressed either (the lighting is terribly blue) and I noticed gaps too where front and back connect (I bet the black one has some as well, you just don’t see them as distinctly). But it fits its purpose

My White Paperwhite just arrived today. Hmm... coming from a Kindle Voyage, I must say I need a lot of getting used to since I technically downgraded. Am I missing my Voyage? Yes. The first thing I noticed in my Paperwhite is the ghosting in images. I rarely noticed that on my Voyage. But the text? I find it more "pronounced" in the Paperwhite. So, not much of a complaint on that department.

But I miss the premium feel of my Voyage. The metal back and the glass front.... it's not the same :'(

But this will do for now. It doesn't feel cheap for me, but it's no Voyage premium too.

Did something happen to your Voyage? That's a shame, you had to take a step back and settle for less. IMO the Voyage is the top of the line Kindle.

No, I've never seen an Oasis to compare.

Stolen But honestly, I did find this Paperwhite to be crisper in text compared to my Voyage. Weird! The touch response is also very good. Touching a word, and highlighting a sentence are much accurate in Paperwhite compared to my Voyage. It's the just the feel that is making me sad. Kindle Voyage is thin, and in all sense, very premium like.

Oh well.

I remember now. Sad that someone would steal. I don't know that I would replace my Voyage, if something happened to it. It's purchase was a splurge which I don't think I could repeat! I'd probably go with a white PW, like you did. I like white readers.
