Other than he price, the small size is less obtrusive and fits on shelves where the Echo can't.
Also, its micro USB power connection gives me options over yet another wall wart.
The built in speaker has proven good enough for everything except loud music.
(If the Echo would fit where we want it in the Kitchen, I'd swap the locations and put the quieter Dot in the bedroom.)
