Yeah, have the Kindlet documentation on hand (the basic stuff is eerily similar, diff the KUAL Booklet to the Kindlet for laughs), a set of system jars from FW 5.1.2 (less obfuscated), and a decent Java decompiler.

Also, actually knowing Java would probably help ^^.

Correct, the Paperwhites are not that old.

So that is what you want, the 'base line' or 'foundation' of the touchscreen models.
Anything newer and you might stumble onto something the original Kindle Touch could not run.

You can find it embedded in Kubrick.

(But I have not been able to find 5.3.1 or 5.3.2, unless I want to downgrade a Kindle and then apply incremental updates. I am too busy reading for that. )

My bad, 5.1.x is before Amazon shipped complete images.

You should also find it at the pastebin index page, listed below the downgrade images.
